Murdoch Hill’s crisp, dry rosé is made from an off-the-wall blend of Cabernet and Pinot Gris. The Cabernet, sourced from Estate vineyards in Oakbank, makes up 70% of the blend and is pressed straight off skins. It takes its colour from the blend and is wild-fermented in old barrique and foudre. This was blended with Pinot Gris from Lobethal to add texture and a fine acidity. An unusual blend for sure, but one that works nonetheless. Expect a deliciously textural and savoury rosé with a wash of cherry-berry fruit, fragrant rose water and touch of spice
